EDIT: The race between the Camaro and Mustang is tighter than Ballaban’s secret leather pants. Vote now!
Welcome back! This is our third installment of Battle of the Base Wheels. Last time we took a look at !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and, unsurprisingly, the GMC Canyon and its fancy, too-good-for-steelies, base wheels ran away with it.
Base wheels like this are why pickups are so damn expensive.
The Frontier’s wheel is the CVT of steelies.
Today we’re keeping things 100% ‘murican and pitting three examples of red, white, and blue muscle against one another.
As always, if you have a suggestion for a future battle, let me know in the comments.
Let the games begin!

Welp, looks like GM owns base wheels now.

I think this one will be much closer. I hope.

Last gen Camaro base steelies were the best. They actually look great on the SS models as well.

I ... I don’t like any of them.

You must choose.

The ones on the Challenger are just plan cheap and nasty looking, the Mustangs aren’t much better (I think over here in the old world the Mustang has much nicer standard alloys). The Camaros actually look like a wheel I would pick myself.

Tbh, it’s not so much the best wheels on this one as it is the way they’re tailored to the cars. EG, the Challenger’s wheels wouldn’t look right anywhere else.

Okay.

Agreed. In black w/ chrome center caps, and I don’t like chrome.

If I could get them to clear my brakes they’d make a decent track wheel

GM is killin’ it in the base wheel department!

Yes!

I go Chevy.. but all 3 of them look like something you would buy at Discount Tire for winter wheels to save the nice stocks from salt.

Looking solely at the wheels, I’d say Mustang, but the ones one the Challenger are the only ones that don’t clash with the design of the car they’re on.

I think the pickups in general have a less loyal following. The results for anything pony-car related may be tainted by people preference for the overall car, and not just the wheels. Basically, in this scenario I think it’s hard to keep the brand-bias out.
Now, if you made one of these for beige-mobiles..
And I voted for the Challenger wheels. I seem to be the minority. And considering my above comment, I have to say that I don’t particularly have a preference for any of these brands.

Agree 100%. Should have stuck with those as the base wheels for eternity.

I’m gonna play one of those stereotypical millenial stereotype types and not vote because they’re all shit

Invalid. You must choose.

Who’s voting Mustang? Those look like 1996!

I must, and yet I shall not, for to do so would be to state my allegiance with evil

hey - that’s not a base model...

According to the configurator on the U.S. site it is!
